Description (Service) Access centre to apply for LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program) one-time emergency financial assistance * program runs throughout the year * maximum grant is $500 per fuel per household per year * grant is credited directly toward electricity bill * agency may be able to arrange a hold on a disconnection notice while a case is being reviewed * all decisions can be appealed
Hours Mon-Fri 8 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Kingston
Eligibility May be available to low-income customers of the Kingston Hydro Corporation or Hydro One experiencing difficulty paying current arrears * decision will be based on several factors including long-term viability of the account * a disconnection notice is not required to be eligible * clients can only apply for LEAP once per calendar year
Application Pre-screening by telephone before in-person interview * documents required for interview include proof of lease or mortgage, proof of household income and recent bank statement 
 
* Kingston Hydro Corporation customers needing financial assistance to pay their electricity bills should contact Kingston Community Health Centres 
* Hydro One customers throughout Ontario should contact the United Way of Greater Simcoe County at Toll Free 1-855-487-5327
