Description (Service) Administers the Ontario Coroners' Act and supervises the area coroners * public information and inquiries service
Sup. Description Coroners are medical doctors with specialized training in the principles of death investigation. Coroners investigate deaths that are sudden and unexpected, as well as some expected deaths warranting further investigation. The findings are used to generate recommendations to help improve public safety and prevent deaths in similar circumstances.
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Frontenac County ; Haliburton County ; Hastings County ; Kawartha Lakes ; Lennox and Addington County ; Peterborough (County of) ; Prince Edward County
Eligibility Anyone who knows of a death qualifying as a coroner's case must call the coroner * any person may call if concerned or uncertain about the circumstances surrounding a death.
