Description (Service) Language instruction programs 
 
* Elementary Program: The following languages are taught in various schools of the Board; Amharic * Bulgarian * Cantonese * Croatian * Dutch * Gaelic * Hungarian * Italian * Korean * Mandarin Simplified * Mandarin Traditional * Portuguese * Punjabi * Polish * Romanian * Russian * Slovak * Spanish * Tigrinya * Turkish * Yoruba 
 
* Secondary Program: This program prepares students for post-secondary studies and careers in business, trade and communications. It fosters global awareness and understanding; enables enriched International Student Exchanges and develops training skills for international/global employment opportunities. Languages: Gaelic * Italian * Korean * Punjabi * Polish * Russian * Spanish * Mandarin Simplified * Mandarin Traditional 
 
All courses follow ministerial guidelines * accepted as credits towards a high school diploma * current graduation requirements recognize at least one credit in a third language
Hours Elementary Program Sat 9:30 am-12 noon, Sep-Jun * Secondary Program Sat 9 am-12:30 pm, Sep-Jun

Eligibility Elementary program: All children from junior kindergarten to grade 8 are eligible to attend free of charge. Program is open to all children regardless of cultural or ethnic background. 
 
Secondary program: The grade 9-12 credit courses are for high school students who: 
* graduated from the IL Elementary Programs and/or 
* have no prior knowledge of the language, or 
* are native speakers
Application Elementary program: registration on site at the IL elementary school location offering the selected language and is ongoing throughout the school year. For locations, call or visit the website. The registration form for the elementary program is available on the website. 
 
Secondary program: Registration is only at the beginning of the academic year. For the location and date of registration, call or visit the website.

Fees Service ; A consumables / activity fee of $10 is payable at registration. Out-of-province applicants will be charged a fee.
