Description & Services
Description (Service) Non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organization committed to advancing the full social and economic integration and participation of newcomers, immigrants and refugees in Ottawa. 
Employment Services, Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC), Client and Counselling Services such as orientation to the city, practical settlement advice such as helping with government services, housing assistance, school registration, health insurance, getting a driver's licence and providing family counselling. 
Counselling Services: assists immigrants and newcomers with social issues adjusting to life in Ottawa * financial difficulties * family conflicts * mental health issues: depression, anxiety, stress, family relationships, caregiver stress, grief and loss, parenting, effective communication, workplace stress * problems with the law * racial discrimination * family law * legal problems * sponsorship matters * and Convention Refugee support. 
Support Groups: led by professional social workers and counselors 
Mental health workshops 
Employment Support Services: 
Job Search Workshop (JSW): helps with finding jobs * help with resume and cover letter writing * interview skills and mock interviews * individual consultations on job readiness 
Enhanced Language Training for IT Professionals (ELT): assists internationally trained professionals in information technology (IT) to make the transition to equivalent careers in Canada. IT workplace terminology training * Networking and Communication skills * Professional job placements of various lengths * Job referrals and information meetings with prospective employers 
Job Placement Services: brings together employers in Ottawa and internationally trained newcomers * organizes other employment related training and information sessions with local employers and/or employment placement agencies * works with employers to create a respectful, inclusive, multicultural workplace 
Language Training: Language Instruction for Newcomers Canada (LINC): helps newcomers to learn English at different levels of proficiency, to better and faster adapt to the Canadian society * field trips * workshops * guest speakers * experts in different fields that provide valuable additional information and knowledge to the LINC participants 
* Income tax preparation assistance for low-income individuals

Eligibility All immigrants, newcomers and refugees 
LINC: Newcomers to Canada 18 years and older who are permanent residents or Convention refugees (for some other eligible immigration categories, please call the office) 
Family Counselling Services: Persons living on a low income or receiving social assistance
