Description (Service) General information on Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry programs and services 
In order to fish in Ontario you require a complete and valid license to fish which consists of an Outdoors Card plus a fishing licence. * An Outdoors Card on its own is not a fishing license. 
Outdoors Cards * plastic, wallet-sized identification card which you carry with your Ontario fishing licence * card is valid for three calendar years, but fishing licences must be purchased yearly if a 3-year licence is not purchased with the original purchase of the Outdoors Card 
Fishing License Tags * one-year and three-year fishing licences are available from more than 1,400 licence issuers across the province, or online at ontario.ca/outdoorscard (e-licence must be printed and carried when fishing) * licences are often available from tourist outfitters' camps and lodges, summer camps, and sporting goods stores or bait dealers * in smaller communities, they may be available at general stores or other retail establishments

Eligibility No restrictions * For Outdoors Card: Ontario Residents 18-65 years old * refer to the website for the conditions for applicants who do not meet the age requirement as well as certain other individuals who can fish without an Outdoors Card
Application To obtain an Outdoors Card for the first time: 
In person: Fishing licences and Outdoors Cards are available from more than 1,400 licence issuers and participating ServiceOntario centres across the province. These licences and cards are effective immediately upon purchase, and are valid for fishing until the end of the calendar year. You will automatically be mailed a plastic three-year Outdoors Card bearing your one-year or three-year fishing licence tag within 20 days. 
Internet: A first time fishing licence and Outdoors Card can be obtained online, as well as Outdoors Card renewals and yearly fishing licence purchases. One-year and three-year licenses can be purchased.
