Description & Services
Description (Service) Note (24 Mar 2020): Due to COVID19, individuals are asked NOT to visit ESS Centres. Applications for all services can be completed over the phone or online. Existing clients can call or email their caseworker. Social service hubs are closed, their activities and workshops cancelled. ESS Centres remain open, but business hours are reduced to Mon-Fri 10 am-3 pm as of March 25, 2020. 
 
Provides financial and employment assistance to people in temporary financial need. Ontario Works can help pay for basic needs such as food, housing costs, certain furniture (beds (one every five years based on need), cribs, high chairs (one per family based on need) and a stove or fridge where not provided by landlord) and prescription drugs.  
 
People receiving assistance through Ontario Works take part in employment activities which help them prepare for and find employment. The program is delivered through four Employment and Social Services Offices:

* East - Beacon Hill Shopping Center, 2339 Ogilvie Rd, Ottawa, ON K1J 8M6 
* South - 2020 Walkley Rd, Ottawa, ON K1G 6S6 
* West - 100 Constellation Dr, 2nd Flr, Ottawa, ON K2G 6J8
Hours Mon-Fri 8 am-4:30 pm, Sep-May * Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm, Jun-Aug (first Fri after Labour Day)
