Description and Services
Description (Service) Seeks to increase the skills of children and youth with the autism spectrum disorder (ASD), while also increasing education and supports offered parents to promote lasting changes

Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) * teaches new skills and behaviours to children with autism * comprehensive approach * communication * socialization * self-help * pre-academics * play

Applied Behavior Analysis Services and Supports Program of Eastern Ontario (ABA) * provides services to children and youth with ASD and their parents in four domains: behaviour * communication * daily living * social/emotional regulation

School Support Program (SSP) * works directly with teachers, educational assistants and other education professionals, as well as community partners * enhances supports available in the provision of educational services to any student with Autism (including Asperger’s Pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS)) in the publicly funded school boards * services are offered through consultation, training, and resource development

Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and under 
IBI * children who have a diagnosis from a physician or a psychologist that states that the child has autism or an autism spectrum disorder considered to be towards the severe end of the autism spectrum can be referred. Children diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome or Rett’s Syndrome are not eligible for this program. Children must live within the Eastern catchment area of Ontario, which includes Ottawa and the counties of Renfrew, Stormont, Dundas, Glengary, and Prescott-Russell. Referrals accepted from both French-speaking and English-speaking families. 
ABA * children and youth between the ages of 0 to 17 (up to their 18th birthday) who live within the Eastern catchment area of Ontario, and who have an official diagnosis of Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome or Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified can be referred for ABA services 
SSP * Children referred by the School Boards
Application IBI * After receiving a complete referral application, an eligibility screening assessment must be completed. If your child is found to be eligible or conditionally eligible, his/her name will be transferred to the treatment waiting list. During the waiting period, families must take part in parent education workshops offered by our program to learn more about autism spectrum disorders and IBI principles. Parental attendance at the parent education workshops is, in fact, a prerequisite for each child to start IBI 
ABA * Once a child is found to be eligible, his/her name will be transferred to our ABA services waiting list. If your child is not eligible for ABA services from the Autism Program of Eastern Ontario, referrals to other appropriate community services will be provided 
SSP * Requests for service are sent by the School Boards. Parents cannot refer their child directly to this service
