Description & Services
Description (Service) Supports internationally educated professionals to obtain employment in their field * clients are matched with a volunteer Career Mentor with work experience in the same or a related field * mentorship is also offered between participants and public service employees (public service mentoring initiative) * one-hour weekly meetings about: Canadian workplace culture, career objectives, employment strategies, cover letter and resume fine tuning, interview skills * career mentors receive training
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Ottawa
Eligibility Participants: Landed immigrants or Convention refugees * internationally educated * language assessment level 6 or higher * Ontario resident * employment ready 
 
Mentors: at least two years of work experience in Ottawa and contacts in employment and professional networks * commitment: at least three months, one hour a week * sensitivity to employment and cultural transition experiences
