Description (Service) COVID-19 (9 April 2020): Staff are working from home and taking calls from Veterans and other referral sources. Often assistance can be provided remotely - things such as rent payments, arranging temporary accommodations or assistance with utilities. In the event a Veteran requires a grocery card, gas or clothing, they can make arrangements for those items to be provided by volunteers, taking all the necessary precautions.

Volunteer-led organization aiming to provide aid and comfort to Canadian veterans

Services include assistance with:
* accessing benefits the Veteran or family are entitled to and or may not be aware of
* short term emergency housing
* maintaining or accessing safe housing (security deposit, first month rent, power being cut off, assisting a transition to a suitable retirement home as appropriate etc.)
* grocery cards
* basic needs for an apartment
* securing suitable employment
* peer support

Guitars for VETS Canada (GFV Canada): clients are given a donated, gently used guitar or provided with a rental guitar * volunteer guitar instructors provide ten lessons (based on availability); lessons are also available online

Eligibility Canadian Veterans who are in crisis, at risk of becoming homeless, or are homeless * their family members 
 
Volunteers: still serving members and Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) 
 
GFV Canada: veterans living with physical disabilities or mental health concerns such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
